More Information

Nestled deep within the breathtaking 18,700-acre Ol Kinyei Conservancy—one of Kenya’s most pristine and exclusive wildlife havens—Porini Mara Camp offers an authentic and immersive safari experience unlike any other. This award-winning eco-camp is situated in the heart of the Maasai Mara ecosystem, where vast open savannahs, acacia-dotted woodlands, and lush riverine forests form a dramatic backdrop for unforgettable wildlife encounters.

Porini Mara Camp is intentionally small and intimate, with just six spacious safari tents (including a dedicated family unit), ensuring a serene and uncrowded environment. Here, guests are immersed in raw nature, surrounded by the sounds of the bush and the rhythm of wildlife. Every tent secures the protection of 700 acres of conservancy land, thanks to Porini’s unique model of sustainable tourism that directly supports local Maasai communities and vital conservation efforts.

This pioneering community conservancy was the first of its kind when established in 2005. Today, it is globally recognized on the IUCN Green List of protected areas—one of only around 70 sites worldwide to earn this prestigious status.

Ol Kinyei Conservancy is home to an astonishing diversity of wildlife, including two resident lion prides, elusive leopards, cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, and more. As the northernmost calving ground for the Loita wildebeest migration, it offers guests the rare chance to witness this awe-inspiring natural event each year, typically in January and February.

What makes Porini Mara Camp truly special is the unrivalled sense of exclusivity. The conservancy is reserved for Porini guests only, and tourism numbers are strictly limited—with no more than one vehicle per 1,400 acres—ensuring that every game drive feels personal and privileged. In addition to exploring Ol Kinyei Conservancy, guests also enjoy access to the neighbouring Naboisho Conservancy, broadening the range of habitats and wildlife experiences available.

Your safari here goes beyond traditional game drives. Led by expert Maasai guides and spotters, guests can enjoy night drives, guided nature walks, sundowners in scenic locations, and even bush breakfasts or lunches in the wild. Cultural visits to local Maasai villages and schools foster deeper connections and understanding, giving you the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the community’s long-term success.

Porini Mara Camp is a Gold Eco-rated camp that runs entirely on solar power and uses no permanent structures, allowing it to blend seamlessly into its surroundings. If the camp were removed, nature would soon reclaim the space, leaving little trace behind. Guests also have the chance to support conservation and community initiatives through the Wildlife Habitat Trust, where 100% of donations go directly to projects such as youth beekeeping programs, education, and healthcare.

Perfect Safari Experience

It was an in credible stay at the Masaai Mara Porini Camp. From start to finish everything was flawless. Not my first safari but the best. First of all the guides, Stanley had the Masaai sixth sense for knowing where the animals were hiding. In three days we saw 4 of the big 5 multiple times (there are not rhinos in that section of Masaai Mara) plus so many others in their daily life, lionesses playing with their pups, a hunting, a beautiful leopard, a newborn gazelle just standing up, many elephants, and everyone so close. Because it's a conservancy, the park is very controlled and wasn't overwhelmed by vehicles, we were on our own many times and at at most one or two other jeeps around. That feeling of sitting alone, in the Savannah in complete stillness, with nothing around but nature, silence and life in its purest form is so humbling, powerful and completely present, an experience that stays for long after you leave. Beyond that, the camp was beautiful, thoughtfully designed, blending luxury with the magic of the bush, with great lighting and evening fireplace. The food was excellent every single day. I am gluten free and dairy free and they managed to make full dinners comparable to everyone else, dessert included. The entire crew at the camp was super attentive. Joseph, the camp manager was both professional and fun, we had interesting conversations about the challenges of traditional Masaai values in this complex digital world.

Porini Mara Camp is fantastic! We just returned home a few days ago, and the pictures shown do not do it justice! Everything is on raised platforms. There is a combination lounge and dining tent that is incredible. There are only six tents, but each one is on a raised platform and secluded with a fabulous view of beautiful trees and lush vegetation. Our guide Wilson and spotter James were absolutely the best. We saw so many Lions, Elephants, Cheetah, a Leopard, Giraffe, Zebras, Wildebeests, Gazelles, Topi, Elands, Cape Buffalo, and so many birds. Our time there was truly magical!!!
Excellent start to our safari

First 3 nights of the safari at this camp in Ol Kinyei Conservancy. Quick flight from Nairobi although we were the 4th airstrip landing before reaching ours but well worth it. Camp was clean and comfortable. Well run with excellent staff on hand. Game drives were excellent with fantastic knowledgeable guides. Although no fencing felt very safe day and night.
AWild time!
