WINNER OF ECO WARRIOR AWARD 2016

Gamewatchers Safaris received the Ecotourism Kenya 2016 awards for “Eco-rated Tented Camp of the Year” for Porini Amboseli Camp in Selenkay Conservancy and the 1st Runners up certificate for the “Community Conservancy of the Year” for Ol Kinyei Conservancy.

 

The 11th Eco Warrior Awards event was held on 14th October 2016 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Nairobi. The event this year was hosted under the theme of “Sustainable Tourism: Our Diversity, Our Strength” and as ever it attracted a large number of local, regional and international tourism stakeholders to celebrate companies that champion responsible tourism in Kenya.

In addition, Ecotourism Kenya awarded Porini Rhino Camp a Gold eco-rating certification, so now 4 Porini Camps are rated as Gold (Porini Rhino Camp in Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Porini Amboseli Camp in Selenkay Conservancy, Porini Mara Camp in Ol Kinyei Conservancy and Porini Lion Camp in Olare Motorogi Conservancy).

 

The Eco Warrior Award is an annual event held by Ecotourism Kenya. The award recognizes efforts, innovations and exceptional achievements for promoting responsible tourism and enhancing tourism sustainability which directly conserves the natural environment linked to local communities through mutually beneficial and equitable partnerships. Nature conservation through community development by tourism is the essence of ecotourism.
