WINNER OF ECO WARRIOR AWARD 2015

Gamewatchers Safaris was awarded the Eco Warrior Award for ‘Kenya’s Tour Operator of the Year 2015’ in recognition of our continued efforts to use responsible tourism as a way to promote conservation of wildlife habitats in co-operation with local communities living alongside Kenya’s national parks and reserves.

The 10th Eco Warrior Awards event was held on 16th October 2015 at Leisure Lodge, Diani. The award under the 2015 theme, “Sustainable Tourism: Keeping the Magic Alive”, drew a large number of tourism stakeholders locally, regionally and internationally to witness and celebrate companies that had succeeded in championing responsible tourism in Kenya.

The Eco Warrior Award is an annual event held by Ecotourism Kenya. The award recognizes efforts, innovations and exceptional achievements for promoting responsible tourism and enhancing tourism sustainability which directly conserves the natural environment linked to local communities through mutually beneficial and equitable partnerships. Nature conservation through community development by tourism is the essence of ecotourism.

The 2015 Ecotourism Tour Operator of the Year Winner: Game Watchers Safaris Limited

The citation reads:

“Gamewatchers Safaris is a tour operator in Kenya that has specialized in offering safari holidays for the last 25 years. Gamewatchers Safaris has committed to helping preserve Africa’s unique wildlife, landscapes and local communities through sustainable ecotourism ventures that benefit the local communities and give their guests a rewarding experience. The 2015 Eco Warrior Award judges recognized them for their excellent approach to conserve and protect wildlife areas through partnership formed with the local communities. The category was sponsored by Kenya Association of Tour Operators (KATO)”

Dr Mohanjeet Brar, Director of Gamewatchers Safaris, was presented with the award for Tour Operator of the Year 2015. Monika Solanki of the Kenya Association of Tour Operators hands the award to Mohanjeet while Jacinta Nzioka, the Marketing Director of the Kenya Tourism Board looks on.
