Another incomparable safari
February 2020 | David and Carol Jones
This time we were lucky and got in before all the Covid restrictions came in. That said we are itching to go again and as far as the camps go we’d be quite happy to be there now, it’s all the other restrictions that are preventing us.
That said we had a fantastic time in February commencing at Cheetah Camp where we were looked after like royalty. A big hello and thank you to Jui and Nirmalya along with all their incomparable staff. Apart from the wonderful game drives, thanks Phillip and Jacob, we had the experience of listening to Zebras chomping grass outside our tent at night and a hyena letting go with the loudest howl ever right outside too. Being able to go off track and drive up to animals anywhere in the conservancies is just the greatest plus imaginable. Special thanks also to John, Kelvin and Thomas. We had wonderful sightings including the much sought after Rekero male lions, how good is it to have these guys twenty odd feet away! Of course there are many other animals and the bird life is just amazing.
Then on to Lion Camp for a couple of days for another experience of a lifetime. Edwin was Camp Manager at the time and we had Julius and Bill as our guides. Saw everything and the information imparted about all the animals and birds just blows you away. I need a tape recorder next time!! Daniel, James and Joseph in the mess tent deserve a special mention too as do the forgotten chefs in all the camps who do such a superb job, the food is just mind blowing away out here, we come home pounds heavier!
