Southern Palms Beach Resort
Southern Palms is situated on the beautiful white sandy shores of the Indian Ocean at Diani Beach, 35 km south of Mombasa. This 4 star Beach Resort has a unique blend of traditional Swahili and Arabic architecture. The property spreads over 10 acres of mature tropical gardens and coconut palms, and our facilities are of a world class standard.
300 air conditioned rooms and 2 Luxury suites will ensure a comfortable stay at all times. 2 free-form swimming pools add a unique feeling of space and majesty to the resort.
Rooms
The rooms are fully air-conditioned and feature a locally carved Pili Pili four-poster double bed, and a standard size day bed that can convert into a second bed. Average room size is 26 square metres. There are tiled ceramic floors throughout the room and bathroom. Every room is fitted with a mosquito net that covers the entire double bed to ensure a peaceful night.
Each room is fitted with a combination safe and direct dial telephone for your convenience. The bathroom is well designed with a very spacious shower. All rooms overlook the swimming pools and gardens, there is however a possibility of pre-booking one of the Ocean Front rooms – please enquire. Inter-connecting rooms are available on various floors. Balconies and verandas are very spacious and fitted with Swahili easy chairs. Children may be accommodated on ground floor rooms.
Restaurants
There are four restaurants at your disposal:
The main Restaurant features a different theme every night. This is where you will also have your breakfast in the morning.
The ‘Nyama-Choma’, where you have the privilege to eat by the pool, specialises in meat, fish and seafood grilled on a roaring charcoal fire.
The ‘Boriti Snack Bar’ (A la carte Restaurant), open during the day, offers a variety of light lunches and local specialities with fast and efficient service.
The Italian Restaurant, open for Dinner only, will take care of this special evening where eating next to the sea is the order of the day!
For a quick and easy lunch, you can also try the ‘Beachcomber Stir Fry Tent’ located on the beach-front where the chefs will cook your favorite stir fry combinations.
A wide selection of seafood dishes and local meat platters are available on request.
A comprehensive and well-adjusted wine list will give you the opportunity to discover an array of fine wines.
There are 5 bars at your disposal, conveniently located throughout the resort. The ‘Swim-up Bars’ are just the perfect place for that special sundowner in the late hours of the afternoon.

The Sports and Leisure Department has a very comprehensive programme that caters for all tastes, abilities and preferences.

Floodlit tennis court, volley ball, squash court, fitness centre, pool games, deep sea fishing, scuba diving, petanque, table-tennis, darts, snorkelling, water aerobics, windsurfing, catamaran sailing, pool tables, bird watching are some of the activities available.
Another way to discover Kenya is to take a walk to the nearby local village where you will have the opportunity to appreciate a different way of life; peaceful and rich in traditions.

At night, you will be entertained with a selection of African Shows such as traditional dancers, African music, Acrobats, local folklore and dancing music will take over to carry you through late into the night.
Background music is on most nights during dinner in our Main restaurant.

Hello, I am Sally Wanjau, and I have been travelling to Kenya on safari since the 1980’s which led to me living and working there for several years. Married to a Kenyan, it is a place that I now call home. I currently live in the UK with my husband.
